I am working on a simple Windows-only .exe (written in AutoHotKey) which is able to hide Sidewise's tray icon as well as fix the alt-tab problem.
The script isn't ready for release yet as it currently causes a couple bugs within Sidewise itself, most likely specific to minimizing/restoring the dock window and/or sidebar. It also needs a "automatically launch at startup" function. But the no-taskbar-button and hide-from-alt-tab-order functions otherwise seem to work correctly.
If you want to try the script out in its present state:
- Download and install AutoHotKey
- Save the script file somewhere
- Run the script file to enable the taskbar/alt-tab hiding functionality
- To have it automatically run on startup, create a shortcut to the .ahk script file in your Windows Startup folder (Start -> Programs -> Startup).
Multiple improvements to pinned-tab handling and general tab-ordering logic have been made for the next release. Still got a few known problem cases to diagnose and fix.
I have made some progress on these issues, still running through test scenarios and tracking down at least one more known problem in this area.
Roger that. I will most likely have some very basic import/export functions in the next release -- basically just performing the operations described in the main post reply.
Could be a dev-channel issue -- I'll check it out.
Haha OK thanks for the feedback, I'll keep trying to reproduce this problem without pinned tabs involved as well.
Can you tell me what the dimensions are of your monitors, which monitor you have the vertical task bar on, which side of the window you have Sidewise set to dock itself to, and which monitor you've got Chrome/Sidewise showing on? That should probably be enough info for me to reproduce the problem.
I have seen this issue previously but thought I had it fixed. Will investigate, thanks for reporting it!
Bet it's related to those. Will update when the pinned tabs stuff is all sorted proper.

Chrome doesn't provide any mechanism I know of to do that, either by an extension or by the Chrome user.
