new tab

Love Sidewise - but there is a feature I'd love to see added.  I have a 3-monitor setup and run Chrome (fullscreen mode) in the middle and right monitor.  I have Sidewise un-docked (and not fullscreen) in the left monitor.  It would be great if the "Windows" rows in Sidewise had a button to open a new tab in their respective Windows.  When running Chrome in fullscreen mode the only (?) way to create a new tab is to use the keyboard.  It would be nice if Sidewise could do it with a Mouse click.

Also, upon restart it would be nice if Sidewise could retain the previous window positions when Sidewise and Chrome was closed.  (But this may not be a Sidewise problem?)

The "create new tab" button is now implemented in 2012.10.18.1 release.

Setting this issue to STARTED as I have not yet addressed the issue of restoring previous windows' positions.

Planned

I like this idea. Setting as PLANNED.

I will investigate what would be involved in restoring previous windows' positions on restart. It does seem like something Chrome should be doing itself (and from what you are saying it must not be); I think it may be possible for Sidewise to remember each Window's positions and reapply them once it recognizes which window is which on browser restart.

The "Create new tab" button has been added per your request and will be appearing in the next release, due out by end of month. Additionally you will be able to double-click in the empty space below the page tree to create a new tab in the current window. And there is a new option "Creating a new tab from the sidebar opens" where you can choose "New Tab page", "your homepage", "google.com", or "blank tab" when you create a new tab via these methods.

I'm going to leave this issue marked as PLANNED until I address the "retain previous window positions" request as well.
