I had this problem after removing an old video card and plugging the extra monitors into my main card. 

Note that I clicked "Detect monitors" and also did an emergency recovery of a previous session, amidst repeated force exits.

I installed the latest version of Chrome, from Firefox, and it seems to have fixed itself.
