wrap text

Mand C il y a 11 ans mis à jour par Joel Thornton il y a 11 ans 1

Just discovered Sidewise and loving it - except that text in the notepad does not wrap. (I'm new to Chrome and am used to Opera's notepad sidebar, or Quicknote or MiniPad2.) I will use this A LOT if can get my notes wrapping!

Also would love to be able to save more than one note - though knowing me, better to limit how many or I'll just give myself dozens of to-come-back-to memos ;)

What OS are you using?

I'm running Windows 7 here and the text in the Notepad pane does wrap as one would expect for me.

Sidewise is great - looking for a way to backup & transfer

Arno Rite il y a 11 ans mis à jour par Chris Appleby il y a 7 ans 7

I really like Sidewise.  It's easy to use and lets me handle all my open tabs in an intuitive way.    If you need a Chrome tab manager, this is the one to get - I really do mean that!  Excellent job, Joel!

With that said, here's what I'm having problems with:

1) How do I protect all the time I'm putting in to create my tab outline?  In other words, how can I back up my outline?  If I can't protect my outline, I can't use it.

2) Actually could become part of number 1 - How do I copy my outline from my desktop to my laptop?  If I have to recreate everything, I'm wasting my time and won't do it.

Just released the new version, which includes the basic export/import functionality mentioned below.

---

I have some (admittedly rather primitive) export/import functions coming in the next version. Basically you will be able to export all of Sidewise's settings and data to your clipboard, which you can then save to a text file. For the import side, you reverse the process (paste some previously exported data into a text box in Sidewise).

Longer term, I'll be looking at ways of exporting/importing that don't involve the clipboard, such as storing your data in a database that I host on http://sidewise.info. I also plan to do something along the lines of automatic periodic backups of your data, along with something like a drop-down list on the options page that lets you choose to restore everything to one of the saved "earlier versions" on demand.

Add the ability to search ideas to see if anyone has suggested this idea.

There should be a search box on http://sidewise.userecho.com/ that provides at least decent searching capabilities across the Sidewise feature requests posted there.

Planned.

Enable Search to search content of pages instead of just titles & URLs

Jason LeMonier il y a 12 ans mis à jour par Joel Thornton il y a 12 ans 5

Awesome plugin!  Would love to have "search titles and URLs" become "search titles, URLs, and content in pages"

Monitor detection.

Eric Gingell il y a 11 ans mis à jour par Joel Thornton il y a 11 ans 3

I have a laptop (Windows 7) with an external monitor attached and have the display settings to only show content on monitor 2; however, your stupid extension uses monitor 1 which isn't even on and throws Chrome over to it so I can't even see it. You don't get to decide which monitor I put Chrome in.

Anyway, the bug: I tried to move the Chrome window on monitor 1 and Chrome completely disappeared.

Solution
Joel Thornton il y a 11 ans

While Chrome is active, can you use Win+Right / Win+Left keys or Win+Shift+Right / Win+Shift+Left keys to move the Chrome window and Sidewise sidebar to the desired monitor? These key combinations are built into Windows 7 to allow you to move things between monitors even when you can't see them.

Hi, I'm using your extension and it seems to work well rather other of this type.
I wish know if it is possible to see a scrolling tab list under the bulb icon (rather than a window, docked or not); if it is possible to disable the last sessions list, maybe replacing it with only an item which open the history (session history tends to take a lot of space); and if it possible (I don't think so, actually) to disable the standard chrome tab view (which is useless while a tab extension is active)

Latest SW and Chrome 30.0.1599.69 m no longer stay 'together'

dsl101 il y a 11 ans 0

If I minimise / maximise the chrome window from the taskbar, SW used to hide / pop to the top of the window stack. But this no longer works. SW is hide / restoring, but not coming to the top when the Chrome window does. I'm afraid I can't remember when this started - if it was the last SW update or the Chrome update... For info, I don't have the 'Keep sidebar visible' option checked - I never have, but SW used to still come to the top. I'm not sure how / why, but it was great as it didn't cause the focus flickering or Alt-Tab annoyance. Shame it's stopped working though...

windows 8 mode

máté sipos il y a 11 ans 0

I found a serious problem. I switched Chrome to Windows 8 mode (sidewise open as a tab) then switched back to Desktop mode. Since that moment I couldn't use your program, because whenever it is docked to the window it runs in full screen mode and the browser is docked to an invisible - "unclickable" part of the screen. To resolve the problem I clicked on the options icon, pushed F11, undock sidewise, close everything, restart chrome and in the first 1-2 second right clicked on the narrow titlebar and choosed "full size". I will reinstall application and hope it forget it's bad habbit.

Tabs losing sync after google search from omnibox

dsl101 il y a 11 ans mis à jour par Joel Thornton il y a 11 ans 2

I think I've finally pinned down at least one cause of tabs losing sync between SW and Chrome - at least it seems reproducible for me now.

Simply open a new tab, then do a google search directly in the omnibar - make sure it's a true search and doesn't autocomplete a URL. When the search page results are displayed, the SW tab shows 'XYZ - Google Search'. Then click on the top link - for me at least the SW tab stays as 'XYZ - Google Search' and from now on, the link is lost - no amount of refreshing will bring it back. On restarting SW via the extensions tab, I see the 'XYZ - Google Search' as a hibernated tab, and the live page as a new tab, fully functioning again.

Hope you're able to reproduce it :)

This should be fixed in today's release. Can you verify?
