For months I thought the issue was the Chrome browser. Every time I opened Chrome I would start to get an irritating screen flicker. It also affected the overall performance of my PC. I deleted and reinstalled Chrome several times, but the problem would reoccur whenever Chrome was running. I switched to Firefox and no longer had the system problems, and using FF's Tree Style Sidebar gives me the same advantage as Sidewise in Chrome. Recently, I again tried Chrome and disabled all extensions, then enabled them one-by-one. I discovered that Sidewise was the culprit and disabled the extension. Now I can run Chrome without it corrupting the other applications running on the system. Please fix the problem, because I miss using Sidewise. I frequently have many tabs open (currently have 92 tabs open in FF, but sometimes have more) at the same time and miss doing that in Chrome because of not being able use the sidebar. I now only have 3 tabs open in Chrome, whereas I would usually have dozens. I've noticed tat others have reported the problem, but have not seen a solution. Please fix the issue and win back your fans. There will be several of them one after another looking like this: "key": function key() { [native code] },"getItem": function getItem() { [native code] }, etc.

3. Remove all of them - they don't look like valid JSON parts (and also do not pass JSON validators that you can easily find online)

4. After the invalid JSON part is removed, second attempt to import the string will also fail due to another problem: immediately before 1st invalid entry (with "function" word which you removed), there is the entry '"length": 43' (in your case 43 can be different number probably). While it is valid JSON entry, it cannot be imported because "length" is RO property. So remove this entry also.

After those 2 corrections, my string was imported successfully. But there is a bug I'm experiencing there where if I right click a tab/folder the context menu will disappear so fast you can't even see it. The only work around I've found is to right click & hold -> move the cursor off of the context menu -> release -> click menu item. Sometimes if you don't move it off the context menu then you will be unable to click anything on the context menu via click release (this happens to me on trackpad but not external mouse).

This bug doesn't exist on windows however

Anonymous replied:
Prof Plumhttps://sidewise.userecho.com/users/507-prof-plum/topics/tag:sidewise.userecho.com,2019-08-31:/communities/1/topics/560-cannot-synchronize-when-maximizing-the-window/2019-08-31T12:37:56+00:002019-08-31T12:37:56+00:00Cannot synchronize when maximizing the window [ideas]
Currently the sidewise window can minimize with the main windows, but they can't synchronize when maximizing the window.

suggested by: Hugh YoungHugh Younghttps://sidewise.userecho.com/users/541-hugh-young/topics/tag:sidewise.userecho.com,2019-08-28:/communities/1/topics/559-sidewise-window-disappeared/2019-08-28T07:42:28+00:002019-08-28T07:42:28+00:00Sidewise window disappeared. Exported backup data not restoring any of them. [bugs] [started]
First of all, I love your plugin! It has literally changed the way I work! I now normally operate with 1000+ tabs hibernated and organized into folders so I can immediately jump right back in to a project where I left off (I am managing a lot of projects) without needing to keep any of those tabs active until then. Which causes the problem: About a week ago I lost all my hibernated tabs and folders on what I guess was a 'faulty' shutdown.

That was a LOT of work to lose. I was bummed. Thankfully I had made some exported data backups just to be safe. But now whenever I try to restore from any of the exported backups, it seems to restore back to the most recent 'Last Session' which only has about 20-30 tabs open.

USING CHROME BOOKMARKS TO STORE SIDEWISE TAB DATA?

I was thinking that maybe my use-case was not typical so I might be hitting otherwise unseen problems but it seemed like it might be worth tackling. I was wondering whether you could maybe use Chrome's own native Bookmark system to provide the Sidewise hibernated tab backups. It would seem that this would likely already have the 'Save Data on Close' issue resolved and it might provide the added benefit of syncing the tab's between different machines.

god replied:

Hi children,

The settings are stored here:

C:\Users\god\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\biiammgklaefagjclmnlialkmaemifgo

All you have to do is back that folder up and its contents or restore it.
G. And we still appreciate your work that went into this extension, and would like to see it on Github (ideally with a "donate" button, as suggested earlier). I don't think there are any obscure build tools out there that would prevent people from being happy at this point with *something* official.

That said, considering the stated intent to open source and the lack of movement, perhaps we can consider this extension to be open-source already as far as its license goes, per the developer? It being a Chrome extension, the source is pretty much embedded in it and can be extracted easily enough. Someone could just put it on Github themselves at that point, I suppose.
Alex P-Bhttps://sidewise.userecho.com/users/59-alex-p-b/topics/tag:sidewise.userecho.com,2019-05-16:/communities/1/topics/554-new-windows-to-appear-at-the-top/2019-05-16T07:56:44+00:002019-05-16T07:56:44+00:00new windows to appear at the top [ideas]
It would be good to have an option for new windows to appear at the top of the list.
